Why Women's SPEAK: Stories from the feminist gaze

  • The Camp David 237 36th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11232 United States (map)

Sat, January 26, 2019

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST

The Why Women Project presents SPEAK: Live Stories From the Feminist Gaze, Saturday, 1/26 from 2-5 PM, in partnership with Camp David.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: SPEAK is a live, multimedia feminist storytelling series featuring works by women. Presented by Why Women founder Cristina Cala, our first theme is Un-Conditioning, stories of unlearning identities pressured upon women.

Our featured lineup includes essay, photography, poetry and film. Hear collective stories of the creators and subjects behind the body-positive 36-24-36 Project, a stunning photographic collection that defies "perfect measurements." Filmmaker/photographer Erica Génécé presents "WOMAN," a film about feminine power that's measured by refusal to allow others to dictate who a woman is and what she will become.

RSVP: Bring a girlfriend, or two. For a FREE ticket, subscribe to the Why Women mailing list.

2 PM: Come for the mimosas and macarons.

3 PM: Stay for the feminist storytelling.

4 PM: Hang around for networking with creative women.

ABOUT OUR PARTNER: Camp David is Industry City's posh professionals' club and a Why Women collaborator in creating space for women who co-work. Located 21 minutes from Union Square, 18 minutes from Canal Street and 6 minutes from Barclays Center.
